Master Bath Retreat Remodel

I had the privilege of working with a wonderful couple to turn their rose colored, dated and drab master bath into a spa-like getaway. This was a unique project, because the man of the house wanted to do most of the work himself...what a brave soul considering the detailed tile layouts I designed.

Despite the daunting task of a MAJOR remodel, he was able to turn my design into their beautiful reality.... with the help of a few sub contractors for some of the bigger tasks. Not only did it turn out beautifully, the skill and pride behind it really makes this a one-of-a-kind master bath retreat.

BEFORE:

After taking measurements and putting together a general design concept, I was able to create a quick 3D rendering to help the homeowners envision what their space was going to look like.

No more looking through rose-colored glasses on this one.....
AFTER

By carrying the basket weave glass mosaic tile all around the space and into the shower, it created movement and made each area feel cohesive.
Rather than taking everything out, we used the existing vanity cabinetry and tub surround to cut back on costs. By staining and adding new hardware to the vanities, we were able to get the look of gorgeous "custom" cherry cabinetry.
I really wanted the shower to be a WOW moment in the space. By playing with the tile sizes, shapes and patterns, the shower has a unique look all it's own. This, along with converting it to a steam shower, makes for a fabulous area where you can really enjoy and feel pampered.
New porcelain tile floor and new paint throughout help to ground the space.
I just love this gorgeous quartz slab on both vanities. It has such a rich look and makes for easy cleaning with the undermount sinks..... not to mention the gorgeous oiled rubbed bronze fixtures and accessories that add to the overall luxury of the space.
Now that's a retreat!

What do you think....could you spend some time pampering yourself in this space??
